Money on hold? Here's what to do.
A free checklist for online sellers whose payouts are frozen or on hold on PayPal, Stripe, eBay, Amazon and similar platforms.
- Save the exact email or notice: the date, the amount held, and any reason given.
- Don't open a new account to get around the hold. It can make things worse.
- Gather proof that your business is real: supplier invoices, tracking numbers with delivery confirmation, your refund policy, and customer messages.
- When they ask for documents, send everything at once, clearly labelled.
- Keep a log: every date, every message, and every promise support made.
- Follow up in writing on the date they promised. Stay calm and stick to facts.
- Be careful with anyone who promises to "recover your funds" for a percentage.
- Selling a lot faster than usual?
A sudden jump in sales can trigger a hold or limit. Sellers report eBay restricting accounts for "selling too fast." Before a big sale or launch, have your tracking numbers and supplier invoices ready to show the orders are real. - Refunding a customer who paid twice?
A refund can trigger a payout hold (sellers report this on Stripe). Write down why you refunded, and save both payment records so you can explain it straight away.
